José María Manzanares: "The bull has allowed me to never lose my composure."

José María Manzanares: "The bull has allowed me to never lose my composure."

The bullfight featuring Morante de la Puebla, José María Manzanares, and Alejandro Talavante was greeted with great excitement by bullfighting fans , who filled the Maestranza bullring with "Sold Out" signs hanging out. The afternoon ended with memorable moments from the three bullfighters in the season-long bullfight.

Morante de la Puebla showed Radio Sevilla how difficult it was to fight a lackluster animal like the first: "The bull was very tough and didn't give me any ease. I put a lot of effort into making it look good. This is a two-man show, but this time the bull was quite tricky." His manager, Pedro Márquez, emphasized that "such good positioning, such a bullfighter's style, without being a spectacular performance, looked very good."

Regarding the fourth bull, which earned him an ear, the master cigar maker stated, "I thought it was going to be the better bull, but once it started charging well, the other time it didn't; the performance was very intense, and I think the audience experienced it at the same time as I did." However, he asserted about his effort and courage, " Seville deserves it, and sometimes here it's all or nothing . It was a very complete afternoon, giving it my all and feeling like a bullfighter, while the audience demanded that same skill."

For his part, José María Manzanares , for whom this May 5th was a true triumph, was grateful for his performance and that of the second bull, from which he cut an ear: "In recent years, we could talk about very few things. Today, thank God, this was a noble bull. I wasn't able to attack him much, but he had a lot of nobility and a lot of dedication . I felt very good, I felt very comfortable with the bull, and I knew that rushing was not good for him. That's why the start of the faena was slow. The bull allowed me to never lose my composure, and I was able to feel that in a very special way."

Alejandro Talavante wasn't satisfied with the third bull of the afternoon: "The bull had very little class; it was very lackluster. It only knew how to unleash attacks with that horn." However, all that changed with Festín, the sixth, which earned him one ear and almost resulted in him losing a second due to the resounding applause of the crowd.
